INDIA-PAKISTAN WAR DECLARED FOR JULY 30 – WATCH IT LIVE AT WSOFGC.COM

INDIA-PAKISTAN WAR DECLARED FOR JULY 30 – WATCH IT LIVE AT WSOFGC.COM

Fight Scheduled for July 30 at Smart Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City, Manila, Philippines

LAS VEGAS, NV July 12, 2016 With the 50-year anniversary of The India-Pakistan War of 1965 recently passing, World Series of Fighting – Global Championship (WSOF-GC) is reigniting the fuse, as Pakistan’s Uloomi Karim (5-3) looks to end the undefeated streak of India’s Yadwinder Singh (5-0) at WSOF-GC 3: PHILIPPINES on July 30 at Smart Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City, Manila, Philippines.

Uloomi Karim, who has finished all five of his professional victories, is the current, reigning Underground Battle MMA Bantamweight Champion, having captured the title earlier this year. During his post-fight interview, he gave a very heartfelt speech dedicated his title to some of his fellow students that had recently been victimized by a terrorist attack in his home country. It was an emotional affair for all. With the crowd fully behind him, he made a bold challenge by calling, “Yad Singh, I’m coming for you.”

WSOF Global veteran, Yadwinder Singh, is certainly not running and answered the challenge. Singh made his debut with the organization in November 2015, with an impressive victory over a previously unbeaten American and Roger Huerta protégé’, Alex Schild. Singh is currently the #1 ranked flyweight in India and will be welcoming Karim to the 125-pound division.

Despite the challenge from Karim, and the history between the two nations, there is a mutual respect from both camps. Majid Gilani, from Paksitan’s Team Fight Fortress, recently wrote on social media, “Although there is animosity between nations, there is no animosity between Team Relentless and TFF as we are all legit martial artists.” Jitendra Khare, from India’s Team Relentless, responded, “I have utmost respect for you and your team. This is a big challenge and we really respect Uloomi and his skills.”

“When you issue a challenge, you had better be prepared to answer when the person you challenged responds,” said Jason Lilly, Vice President of Operations and Matchmaker for WSOF-GC. “I was very impressed with Uloomi when I saw him fight earlier this year. Calling out someone like Yad shows that he feels he is ready for a big step up in competition. I’m not sure what prompted it, but the despite the mutual respect between the two camps, the tension between those countries is very intense. There will certainly be some blood boiling that night and international pride will be on the line. Fight fans from Pakistan and India, as well as from around the world, can watch the fight LIVE at wsofgc.com.”

WSOF-GC Owner, Dunesa Hesser, adds, “We already have one international rivalry fight on the card with Philippines’ Mario Sismundo (3-1) taking on China’s Keremuaili Maimaitituoheti (5-3) in the co-main event. All ten of our scheduled matches showcase competitors facing off against other countries. With the Olympics coming soon, this is a precursor to that with eleven countries represented at our event.”

WSOF-GC will host WSOF-GC 3 Philippines at Smart Araneta Coliseum on July 30, 2016. Tickets start at PHP300 with ringside seats available for PHP4000. Tickets are now on sale at http://www.etix.com/ticket/p/2988982/wsof-global-championship-3philippines-quezon-city-smart-araneta-coliseum. Smart Araneta Coliseum has been host to many great events over the years, but is most notably known for Ali vs Frazier III “The Thrilla in Manila”.

UFC SOLD ??

The UFC will soon be in the hands of a new ownership group.

Multiple sources confirmed on Monday afternoon that a bid of $4.2 billion from a group consisting of WME-IMG, the Dalian Wanda Group, The Kraft Group and Tencent Holdings was accepted by Zuffa top dogs. While this does not mean the entire company is officially sold, it is a strong likelihood that the sale will be completed shortly.

A sealed bidding process handled by the investment bank Goldman Sachs accepted private bids from a number of companies. Initially, many of the companies were filing separate bids.

But unable to come close to the valuation Zuffa was looking for, they combined into two groups. One featured WME-IMG (led by Zuffa confidant Ari Emmanuel), the Dalian Wanda Group, The Kraft Group (owners of the New England Patriots and other sporting properties) and Tencent Holdings, the owners and operators of the largest internet portal in China. Tencent Holdings also owns Riot Games, the owners of the popular e-sports competitive game League of Legends.

The other group that submitted a sealed bid was China Media Capital. Sources indicate the CMC bid fell well short of the sought-after valuation. In 2014, there were discussions with The Blackstone Group about a potential sale, but it fell through. And in 2015, sources indicate FOX made an offer to purchase the company, but the offer sheet was less than half of what Zuffa sought.

Our sources reiterated once again that Dana White will be staying with the company. His current shares in Zuffa will be sold as part of the deal, but he will be granted new shares to stay on in his current promotion capacity. A new CEO will be selected to handle emerging international businesses; the name we were told is Garry Cook, the former head of the Manchester City football club. White would continue to handle the promotional end of the company—with matchmakers Joe Silva and Sean Shelby staying on board in their current roles—while Cook will focus on expanding business dealings in new emerging markets.

We’ll update this story as it continues to develop.

COP VS COP HEAVYWEIGHT TITLE MAIN EVENT IN PHILIPPINES

LAS VEGAS, NV  June 1, 2016  World Series of Fighting – Global Championship (WSOF-GC) has announced a heavyweight championship main event for their next event, which also marks their first Global event in Philippines on July 30, 2016. The match up will pit WSOF Global Champion, Russia’s Evgeny Erokhin (14-4), vs WSOF Global #1 Contender, USA’s Richard “The Black Eagle” Odoms (11-2).

Evgeny Erokhin won the inaugural WSOF Global World Heavyweight Championship back on February 7 in Tokyo, Japan, with a first round TKO victory over former Bellator contender, Brandon Cash. Evgeny brings an impressive win streak into the decagon with nine straight wins via knockout, including wins over Brett Rogers, Mike Kyle, Jeff Monson, and Tim Hague.

Richard Odoms made his debut with WSOF Global in Tokyo in February and was on hand to witness Evgeny win his championship. Odoms had a very powerful first round KO stoppage, flattening Japan’s Yusuke Kawaguchi in the first round with a knee to the head. Odoms has won three straight fights, with two of those wins coming by first round KO/TKO.

An interesting fact about each of these warriors is that when they aren’t training, they protect and serve with their respective police forces at home. Evgeny is a police officer in Khabarovsk, Russia; while Richard wears the badge in San Antonio, Texas.

“We have been focusing a lot of our efforts in early 2016 working with our affiliates in nine countries on five continents. We continue to build that program successfully. UGB-MMA in Philippines was our very first affiliate and paved the way for others. It just makes sense that Philippines would be the right market for us to put on our next big event,” lamented WSOF-GC Owner, Dunesa Hesser. “Not only will we be bringing fighters from across the globe to this event, but we will be highlighting some of UGB’s talented fighters as well.”

“Evgeny Erokhin has been on an amazing run over the last several years,” states Jason Lilly, Vice President of Operations and Matchmaker for WSOF-GC. “We are fortunate to have this MMA rising star represent us as our Global Champion, but The Black Eagle is soaring high himself. Erokhin hits like he has steel in his fists, but he has never faced someone as large as Odoms, who stands at 6’5” and cuts weight down from 300 pounds. Erokhin is a modest 6’1” 230. When you talk about David and Goliath stories, rarely is the Champion playing the role of David, but that’s the case here. This should be a ground-shaking, exciting main event. When you add in the intriguing storyline of Russian cop versus American cop, it’s almost like something out of an action movie.”

WSOF-GC will host WSOF-GC 3 Philippines at Smart Araneta Coliseum on July 30, 2016. Tickets start at PHP300 with ringside seats available for PHP4000. Tickets are now on sale at http://ticketnet.com.ph/WSOF-GC3-Philippines–Smart-Araneta-Coliseum/EventDetails/431. Smart Araneta Coliseum has been host to many great events over the years, but is most notably known for Ali vs Frazier III “The Thrilla in Manila”.

WORLD SERIES OF FIGHTING – GLOBAL CHAMPIONSHIP ENTERS THE AFRICAN MARKET

WORLD SERIES OF FIGHTING – GLOBAL CHAMPIONSHIP

SIGNS STRATEGIC AGREEMENT FOR SOUTH AFRICA MMA

LAS VEGAS, NV  March 7, 2016   World Series of Fighting – Global Championship (WSOF-GC) has announced the signing of a strategic agreement with South African based promotion, Fightstar Fighting Championship to promote WSOF Global – South Africa. This agreement marks the first affiliate under the WSOF Global banner in Africa.  Planned MMA events and talent roster will encompass not only South Africa, but also the greater southern Africa region including Angola, Namibia, and Botswana.

“It is important that we continue to grow the Global brand by spotlighting organizations and leagues from all over the world,” states WSOF-GC President, Shawn Wright. “It’s exciting to go into a region like South Africa and bring some of their talent into the forefront of MMA.  We believe some of the best fighters in Africa are yet to be discovered.”

“We are thrilled about this opportunity to become an official partner of World Series of Fighting Global Championship, which has done a tremendous job introducing MMA to the rest of the world,” said Grant Oliff, Director of Fightstar Fighting Championship. “As WSOF-GC continues to branch out into other areas in the world, it’s exciting to be the first promotion from Africa to be recognized under their banner. This gives our fighters and sponsors the opportunity to be associated with a world-renowned organization. We are very happy with this venture and look forward to building our brand with theirs.”

“I’ve been a fan of MMA since its inception. I crave MMA and am definitely somewhat of a super fan,” claims Zachary ‘Bootsy’ Harris, WSOF-GC Affiliate Coordinator. “I’ve traveled to some of the most remote areas in the world to see fights that most people wouldn’t even think of looking for MMA. This is a great opportunity for me to work with promotions from all over the world and help showcase them on a much grander scale. At the end of the day, we want to promote the sport and help it continue to thrive. Showcasing organizations like Fightstar will allow us to do that.”

WSOF Global – South Africa will host their first African continental event under their agreement on May 7 with Fightstar 18 from Johannesburg.

What’s new? What’s true? What’s BS?

So welcome to 2016, the year has started with massive social media scandals. People love to get involved in the messy, so we decided to start the year off with a new feature, What’s new? What’s true? What’s BS ?

Gordon “Rage” Roodman vs Darren ” DD” Daniel

Well the Rage was on FB yesterday stating that the EFC wanted him to fight ” the former title challenger MW poster boy at EFC50″. Great fight? love to get your thoughts on this one.

Dino Baggitin vs Matt Buirski

As much as this would be a great scrap, it wont be any time soon. The two athletes got a bit to close for comfort at the last EFC creating quite a stir. Both athletes have been issued with a 6 month suspension.

Demarte Pena vs Irshaad Sayad

Its no secret that EFC have been trying to make this fight happen for some time now. However rumor has it that Demarte will be heading of to bigger things soon, so this fight might not ever happen.

It could be true it could be BS, but its what we hear.

Here is to a great 2016, have fun.

THE BADLANDS RETURNS

The Badlands Combat Sports Radio Show first started on the Philmore Productions Voicemail system on October 27, 2008 and was available at +1 (773) 572-7878. I would have a guest on the show as we would talk about current events in boxing, kickboxing, M.M.A., and all other unarmed hand-to-hand combat sports. At that time the show was titled The Octagon. On July 24, 2009 the show moved to My TeleSpace. On September 23, 2011 the show expanded to Blog Talk Radio as an internet podcast as well as being heard by calling the telephone hotline. On December 20, 2013 the name of the show was changed from the Octagon to the Badlands Combat Sports Radio Show. In 2015 I enrolled with American Broadcasting. After continuously having problems with Blog Talk Radio, I decided to no longer broadcast with them. I also decided that after seven years of running the show, I needed a break and took a hiatus for two months.  I’m returning on Thursday, December 3, 2015 and the show can be heard on Rockin’ WAVES 11294 (www.rockinwaves.com) every Thursday at 3:00 PM Eastern/12:00 PM (live broadcast times my change). You can easily access Rockin’ WAVES on your smart phone or tablet with the TuneIn app. You can also hear archived shows by going to www.mixcloud.com/aow_productions or by calling +1 (832) 999-8125. My official website is still www.octagon8125.com and you can expect changes to come to that as well. Upcoming fighter interviews include Micol De Segni from Italy, U.F.C. veterans, Guy Mezger, Cal Worsham, and Patrick Smith, and much more. I’m excited to be back with this new platform. Thanks for listening.

“Relentless” Roedie Roets Replies

They say you aren’t the real  champ until you defend your belt, harsh but true. So for the young talented Roedie Roets this upcoming Title defense will be his biggest challenge yet.

A true MMA star Roedie has fought his way to the top, he currently holds the Fightstar Light Weight belt and is has no plans of giving it up anytime soon.

We caught up with him and got his views on his upcoming fight against Marcel Else

“I have worked hard to become the champion in the division. I take my career as a fighter very seriously. It is common knowledge that I intend to fight as a pro in the not too distant future and I want to enter the ranks of the professional fighters as someone who is known to pursue his objectives relentlessly;Hence my name “Relentless” Roedie Roets. I will not take any fight or opponent lightly. I will not enter any fight without being certain that I relentlessly pursued every opportunity to prepare properly. Then I will relentlessly bring all that preparation to bear on my opponent. That is all I expect of myself and that is what any opponent can expect of me. As far as I am concerned, this is not just another fight but an important building block of my career. I am facing a solid opponent who brings a unique set of skills to the cage. That is what makes this sport so exiting and unpredictable. However, I do not intend to spoil my record which thus far has been a solid amateur record. I have worked hard to improve in areas identified by my coaching team and I am looking forward to applying these improved techniques in full out action. I trust that fans and spectators will see an entertaining and exiting fight.”

Its crazy to think that he is just 18, a massive future awaits this youngster and win or lose Saturday 5th December you can be sure that “Relentless” Roedie Roets will become a house hold name.

Make sure you catch this and the rest of the massive main card at Fightstars 16, 5 December 2015 bought to you by Teaser, Onnit, Aquvita,  Global Vintage and Apocalypse Fightgear
